The Finnish Cultural and Academic Institutes
The network of Finnish cultural and academic institutes consists of 17 independent institutes working in close cooperation with one another, supported by foundations. In the autumn of 2005, an association called The Finnish Cultural and Academic Institutes was founded to promote cooperation between the institutes.
The aim of the institutes is to promote Finnish culture and academia in the countries where they are located. The operation of the network, which is supported by the Ministry of Education, constitutes an integral part of Finland’s cultural exchange activities. It also provides significant support for Finnish cultural export efforts and the internationalisation of research.
One of the institutes, the Hanasaari Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre, is located in Finland, while the rest are located outside of Finland.
These pages describe the work of these institutes and provide links to the institutes’ own websites as well as the homepage of their cooperation association.
