The Finnish Institute in Madrid
Instituto Iberoamericano de Finlandia
The Finnish Institute in Madrid covers the whole Lusohispanic world, i.e. the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking regions. In practice, however, its activities are concentrated mainly on the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal). The institute's main office is located in Spain, in the centre of Madrid. It houses a library and an exhibition hall. In addition, the institute has an office in the Faculty of Philology at the Complutense University in Madrid.
The institute has a representative in Portugal and in several Latin American countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
The institute's aim is to promote Finnish culture and science in the target areas as well as to enhance mutual cultural understanding through co-operation with various partners, including embassies, cultural institutes, universities, trade missions and non-governmental organizations. The institute has its own publication series, Acta Ibero-Americana Fennica.
In addition to cultural and academic activities, the institute is also involved in intercultural training.
