Finnish Cultural Institute in New York

The Finnish Cultural Institute in New York aims to promote Finnish visual arts, design and architecture in North America. In all its activity, the goal is to help create long term relationships of collaboration between Finnish and North-American professionals in the field of visual arts.

The institute has three principal areas of operation: It runs an artist-in-residency program in Manhattan; it produces, curates and presents large scale touring exhibitions in collaboration with local galleries and museums in North America; and develops active collaboration networks with North American educational institutions and organizations within the field of visual arts.

The institute also organizes lectures, critique sessions and discussion forums, publishes catalogues related to its exhibition program, and maintains an archive of slides and portfolios of Finnish artists’, designers’ and architects’ work. It maintains two residency apartments in New York. The institute offers expert advice to the Finnish Embassies and Consulates in North America on issues related to art and culture and provides information for Finnish and North-American parties working in the field of arts.
