The Finnish-Norwegian Institute
Finsk-norsk kulturinstitutt
The Finnish-Norwegian Institute is located in modern and distinguished facilities in the Kvadratur cultural block in downtown Oslo. The mission of the Institute is to present Finnish culture and art in Norway and to promote cultural exchange between Finland and Norway. The Institute was founded in 1997.
The changing exhibitions in the Institute’s gallery showcase Finnish visual arts, design, architecture and handicrafts. The Institute’s cultural programme includes concerts, movie screenings, author evenings, lectures and seminars. Events are held at the Institute or in conjunction with Norwegian cultural institutions.
The Institute actively works to promote the visibility of Finnish art and culture throughout Norway by providing Finnish artists for Norwegian festivals, etc. The Institute acts in close co-operation with the Finnish Embassy in Norway and with other Finnish parties in Norway. This has made it possible for the Finland events to be held, the most recent of which was held in Oslo in 2004. The next event will be held in Bergen in 2006.
