The Finnish Institute in France
Institut finlandais en France
The Finnish Institute in France has been located at the heart of the Latin Quarter in Paris since 1991. During its existence, the Institute has established itself as an international venue for cultural activities in many different fields.
Traditionally, visual arts exhibitions, cinematic activities and a diverse selection of music stand out in the Institute’s artistic programme. In recent years, the programmes have also expanded to encompass the performing arts and children’s culture. In the field of academic co-operation, the Institute organises seminars, scientific discussions and congresses annually so that Finnish and French experts can meet each other.
The Institute works in close co-operation with French actors and organisations in the field and also participates with other cultural institutes in Paris to organise international cultural events. In addition, the Institute acts as a liaison between Finnish and French art and science organisations in order to promote joint ventures. Instruction in the Finnish language is quite active and Finnish literature, movies and recordings can be borrowed from the library.
